Many aspects of poultry husbandry require different degrees of light control from "grey out" to complete periods of "dark out". This requires that little to no light will come through a fan opening or an inlet opening.
Sun-North manufactures Dark Air which is a series of smooth 9" wide "S" shaped PVC vanes that are spaced 1" apart. This spacing can be increased or decreased depending on the allowable light requirements. Sun-North's Dark-Air is manufactured in any size required by the customer and can be made to cover a sliding door 15' x 15' or even a complete ridge system.

Dark out systems can create resistance in air intake and air exhaust which means more inlet or fan exhaust needs to be considered. Some systems use vanes that are extreme curves or bends which means more air resistance and dark out units that are harder to clean and disinfect.
Sun-North's Dark Air is smooth "S" shaped vanes meaning less air resistance and each Dark Air unit is easily removable for storage and cleaning and if necessary easy to dismantle in order to thoroughly disinfect. Dark Air is not affected by sun-light, harsh chemical or cold.
